Okay, so I saw Dashboard live last night, and never really got this song until I saw Chris sing it live.
He's talking about an affair, making love to someone he's not supposed to. I feel like they're hiding from their parents, because at that age, sexual desires should be kept a secret.
So they have this awesome night ("I won't sleep if you won't sleep tonight"), and keep it between themselves. And they come to know each other so well through this experience that they can talk to each other without words, without paper.
Oh, yes- One of their greatest songs.
Personally, I like his old stuff better, before he had the whole back-up band thing going on. But Chris never loses his style. He's so great on stage, and he draws the crowd in so much. You understand so much just by watching him. It's really a once in a lifetime experience (unless, of course, you go more than once. :) )
