This song rarely doesn't make me cry. It is the opening song for the outsiders, which is my favorite book of all time and the movie is right up there too. My teacher who read the book to me first died about a year ago and was only 32 so it was hard. But let me tell you the first time i heard this song after he died i cried like crazy. I have not yet found a song that better says just what his death meant. From start to end ever part reminds me of him.
"Seize upon that moment long ago One breath away and there you will be So young and carefree Again you will see That place in time...so gold"
Tells me that all i have to do is live and i'm going to be able to see him again. And i aged to much in one year that i was so young then and nothing seemed to matter.
The outsiders was dericted by francis ford coppola and the song was written by his father and then they asked stevie wonder to sing it. The meaning of the book is to stay gold. So the song ties in perfectly. Gold in the book is being a kid, young. If you like the song you should really check out the book and the movie. And if your not into that atleast give robert frost's poem "nothing gold can stay" a chance. It plays a key role in the book.
