Spamuell this is true a point to make though hobbes did not see anything horrific, he fled to france along with Charles II and only came back to England when Cromwell was Lord Protector. In fairness to Hobbes he stuck by his word, although he preferred Monarchy as the soverign he was more than happy to accept the republican rule as he had a deep fear in the state of nature.
