I disagree somewhat, that could very well apply to an abusive mate. People that do bad always find a way to shift blame, whether it be that they were abused themselves, or the whole world is against them... Murderer, abuser, really the same type of person, just varying levels of badness... Personally I think the song is about betrayal and revenge, people in many situations can relate to it.
It does make sense about the spirits of other victims coming, but I get the feeling of a longer and deeper relationship between the two. Maybe that would be too dificult to convey in a short vid.
