"I hear the words of a thousand voices"- a guy likes a girl and he is hearing advice from many people, some will tell him be himself, some will tell him to change to make her like him...
"Here I am, with out a dollar to my name"- He has no credibility in that he is not popular or well known, he is who he is, and he wants to know if this girl will like him for that.
Thats my take, or maybe I just see it that way because I am in a similar situation whatever...
