you can... but you have to willingly admit your are not the god of yourself, that something else out there is worth living FOR. it's an amazing freedom you can receive, and i hope you find it. if you don't have an outlet, go read the Bible, and if that's too intimidating, then Mere Christianity by CS Lewis, or Don't Waste Your Life by John Piper... Find Truth
I still think you (as in anyone) should just read the Bible.
You cannot replace it with any other book. You'll only get half of the message.
The Bible does seem intimidating at first. I think a lot of us who grew up
in a religious family remember the Bible as a REALLY boring book that the
priest or pastor would yap about how we need to "be good and give money lest we burn".
But really if you read the Bible you'll be surprised how different it at actually is
from the so called religious people. I think the Jesus a lot of us learn...
