for me, i think it's more like the person was so sure of everything, made plans and stuff, then things drastically changed with no warning, and that's why now the person feels as if he/she knows nothing at all anymore.
like losing your best friend with no warning. you're disoriented and numb, constantly waiting to wake up from it, only to realize it's really happening. helplessness and disbelief. trying to find the lightswitch in the dark.
"you've gone away enough
when will you decide to stay?"
