This is the best b-side from PSB at my humble opinion and its lyrics are sensational indeed. Neil wrote about pretentiously conformist & defeatist people in a very ironic way on creating this 'new philosophy' properly called miserabilism - something like "don't try to surmount the bad things that has happened in your life, since you cannot do it by yourself. Just relax and follow your miserable life until the end...".
And on these lines below, the followers of the 'miserabilism' are advised for not even ask why their lives are so bad 'cos they can find the right answer and then the happiness! Thus, if you really want to own a sad existence on Earth, please, never 'look to the bright side of life', specially because is so classy to pretend to ignore the happiness.
"But if is wasn't, and isn't were
You can't be sure, but you might find ecstasy
(Oh no)
Just for the sake of it, make sure you're always frowning
(get get get)
It shows the world that you've got substance and depth"
In short: "Be blasé upon the roughness of your own life..."
