such a great song. This is an example of Tom Waits brilliance. It conveys the normal childhood fun and hijinkx and the kids attempts to come to grips with the world around them. But, as the song progresses you realize his friend is in disabled:

"Ill take the spokes from your wheelchair and a magpies wings and tie em to your shoulders and your feet i'll steal a hacksaw from my dad and cut the braces off your legs and we'll bury them in the night in the cornfield"

He wants to help his friend escape at all costs. Such a powerfully wonderful song. Thanks Tom!
