The Road Behind Lyrics

Well the tune (at least in the beginning) is clearly parodying Guns 'n' Roses to some extent, but the song has more of a deeper meaning to me.

The first stanza is kind of like... what he does. He's Oderus. He's smoking crack and killing roadies. Making money, and at the same time a he's also making a general mess of things. You know, he's a crazy fucking barbaric alien rockstar.

It's just what he does. It's his life. It's become monotonous and he doesn't really care. (Walking around in a stupor.) It's exampled in how he said he puked on the contract and cancelled a show.

In the part labelled as "Chorus" he appears to be talking about someone special who was originally just a member of the countless crowd's he's mercilessly slaughtered. They were just a face in the crowd (wattle flapping on turkey farm) until he noticed her and "scraped [her] up".

In Beefcake's part, he's kind of like the internal monologue of the character. (presumably Oderus, or possibly even the entirety of GWAR as a collective) He's reflecting on the whole tour. The classic band perspective, involving how they just keep moving.

In the next part (Well there you have it baby) the character seems to be explaining to "her" how he does all this crazy GWAR shit, but on the inside he's really just a sensitive guy and he really tries to be a good person.

Again, the chorus. "And while the wheels keep rolling". The tour goes on.

And despite this reflection... he just goes back to being a member of GWAR. And possibly even drags this person along with him into his toilet of an existance. "Now baby quit yer crying; Put those clown britches on."

As if it's just something he has to do. His own personal duty, lament it though he may.

That's just my take on it really. It makes sense if you just take the time to listen to the song and read the lyrics. Beautiful piece of music and a much-appreciated change-of-pace either way.
