SWEET! First poster for this fucking song. Sad that I really don't have anything vital to add as far as song meaning goes. I really suck when it comes to interpretations of lyrics. But really, isn't that the beauty of songs anyway? The fact that everyone sees it differently?
Anyway...
This song is definitely about money, to me. The money being what cuts his skin. He's a 'mark for their marketing plans' which to me means that he's falling into what most bands do when they try to make it big. They have to change their style of their songs or whatever, not because they want to, but because someone else thinks that it's good marketing. It's the reason why most bands wear eyeliner, tight pants, and dangle their hair infront of their eyes these days. It's what's in right now. A band dressed like that is more likely to get higher sales because fan girls can swoon over them and quiver at the sight of them, and fan boys can carry on the trend.
And to me, it's like he's saying that it has gotten so bad that he doesn't even want to wake up in the morning.. hence the first verse. And also, the part where he says he's calling 'Time out'. It means he's ending the 'game' and calling 'ollie ollie oxen free' so that everyone can come out of hiding. Maybe he's sick of all the marketing bullshit and having money be the basis for everything.
Or that meaning could be a bunch of shit. Who knows? Who cares?
The good thing is, I've been listening to The Matches for atleast a year now.. and I was lucky enough to see them in late July when they were touring with Action Action at the Agora. They were fucking awesome live. Even when Shawn fucked up the words in 'Sick Little Suicide'.
You gotta love this band. Even if you hate Decomposer. The Matches are just... awesome.

And fuck if I have any typos. I don't care.
