As I listen to this song, the image that comes to my mind is of this leader/expert of theology & religion that has what he’s sees as great intellect. I think of this person who makes it his mission in life to disprove or dissect anything only to put himself in the position of being the most knowledgeable of everything. And it works for him. It works so much that people are convinced. As a result, he gathers a great number of followers. But the truth of the matter is that his mission is perverted because he only seeks to serve himself. He has perverted the ideas in such a way that they are sprinkled with just enough facts to appear solid. But there is nothing about this man or his ideas that are divine. The core of who he is wicked.

To those who are out of touch with their spirituality, and even to those who think that they are, everything about his ideas is appealing. To them it’s new and attractive. But they are blind to the fact that his ideas are false. In his selfish pursuit of worldly knowledge, he has managed to ignore the true higher power, Jesus. He has forgotten that the reason why he breathes is because of the Lord. No man should put himself in the place of God.

The rest of the song speaks to the lost souls that he has claimed, and eventually the fall of mankind who has been deceived. As they are falling, there is the resounding:

Then can you tell me, what, what we gonna do now Where we gonna go now, what we gonna say now Then can you tell me, what, what we gonna do now Where we gonna go now, what we gonna say now

But there is a reward for those who kept their hearts on the Lord. Those who rejected the deception…

But that’s just my interpretation.
