The lyrics are very strange and disturbing. The guy kills his pigeon and dog and destroys the bridge and his farm... and he's not sorry???? This was the worst song on the first album. I think it came out in the early 1970s during the period of antiestablishment movement, though I don't recall other America songs being political.
