to me i think this song is about how a guy is in a perfect relationship with this woman he really loves but regretfully has a one night stand.

"if i was a bad man you would have seen the good in me" means that he's been the ideal partner and the relationship was taken for granted.

he realises how stupid he has been and pleads to the woman to take him back cos he still loves her and has spent a long time with her.
