In fact, with the hair bands and corduroy reference and like, she is in tune with fads. The point is that she has defined her times. She, in a way, is pop--but in a platonic rather than aristotelian way.
I would also like to add that "'cause it's all been downhill since sunny day real estate's first record" is possibly the truest statement ever made.
