The River Tyne is formed by the North Tyne and the South Tyne. The two converge in Northumberland at a place called the Meeting of the Waters. The Tyne was a major route for the export of coal from the 13th century until the decline of the coalfields.

If I die, I’ll never get to my love because we are separated by the river Tyne. I’m standing here sickly, sighing and crying. I’d like to see her.

Where is the boatman, my pretty offspring of a male horse and a female donkey or ass? Can you bring him to me? I’d like him to ferry me over to my honey. I’ll remember the favor.

I’ll pay if you’ll go and fetch the boatman so he can ferry me over to my darling. Hey wait!—Maybe someone can bring her across to me using a boat with oars.

@sillybunny Hinny....this is Scots and northern England for honey. Not a crossbreed horse. The composer is say "My beautify honey".
