On the face of it, this song seems rather silly, and is somewhat mindless fun: I have always found my mood lifted upon hearing it.
I could never help but wonder if "Jack" wasn't in fact the Union Jack (the British Flag), planted on some shore. I suppose it would be easy enough to find possible Political undertones in this song, particularly given the U.K.s' history, but then again, it could just be exactly what it seems to be: a fun little song about a man named Jack.
