The melody of the verses mimics Tom Petty and the Heartbreaker's "Into the Great Wide Open" almost exactly. Listen to the lines: "Satan took her mind and held it for ransom/Dad was short of cash but brutally handsome/Then she discovered that..." and then listen to Tom Petty: "His leather jacket had chains that would jingle/They both met movie stars, partied and mingled/Thier A&R man said..." They're identical. Is this intentional on Lazlo Bane's part, an homage of sorts? Both songs are about lost people, but this one seems to be about a serial killer...!
