To me, this song is about a commited relationship between 2 people that has turned sour. When you first enter the relationship everything is seen through rose-colored glasses, but as time goes by, even though you still care deeply for that person, the love begins to fade.
The couple begins to have arguements and obviously he is says things that he shouldn't and is mad at himself and thinks that perhaps the other person would be better off without him. But, he still loves that person deep down and wants to remain together.
To me the chorus sounds like they have reached a crossroad in the relationship. The person can either decide to stay and remain in the relationship or leave.
I think in the end the person has had enough with the relationship (betrayal, walk away) and walks away even though it hurts and he wants the person to stay.
