OK, I could be wrong, but here's my interpetation of the song...I don't think it's about one particular thing, I think Scott is talking about a particular time in his life.

Could he be referring to Elvis Stojko kickboxing? Then the close shave...flipside....part meaning back on ice? Maybe they're friends???

The Hollywood Bowl is an Ampitheatre, so he's going to a concert...either as a spectator, or as a performer.
