I agree that this is one of the best songs ever written. It is about the perversion of the lives of the Nordic Vikings by the foriegn religion, Christianity, and how it forced the Vikings to give up their way of life for something they did not believe in. It also shows the hesitance of the Vikings to give in to Christianity in that the old man looks out and wishes for Christianity to leave so that he and the Vikings can carry on their lives the way they had been for years.
