I think this song is about independent music. From the lines "If your wondering what you look like, look at me" right at the beginning of the song (which isn't listed here by the way) it's talking about how he is saying that all artists seem to look the same now a days. "Pump up the peculiar, while I yell unique" telling people to listen to the unique music he is singing, trying to break the mold of the dime a dozen pop artists and what not. He goes on to tell pretty much how it's made, that music shouldn't be just sort of slapped together like in an assembly line, but from the heart ("heart is enormous") and how that if you make it that way, people will want to listen to you ("come hear this, it's fearless"), and how it will actually be more like art ("contrast, colour, prism so warming"). Finally, he mentions that he is free, free from record labels things that have generally been seen as squelching artist freedom to produce whatever music they wish too. Just my 2 cents.
