@VertigoInABox I remember hearing this was written about a man the songwriter knew who proposed to his girlfriend and when she said no, he killed himself. The song is a different approach to suicide because the writer thinks he was an ignorant piece of shit for hurting everyone who loved him, and even suggests the act of killing himself was to deliberately hurt the woman who rejected him ("the ways you'd roll your eyes before you hit the ground").
