I don't know if anyone's really noticed it, but Eighteen Visions has changed on every record thus far, both lyrically and instrumentally.
Just take a listen to "Lifeless," and progress through the years ("No Time for Love," "Until the Ink Runs Out," "Vanity," "Obsession," "Eighteen Visions" ...). Nothing is the same as it ever was so I really don't think complaining that "this isn't Eighteen Visions" really says much of anything.
