Those letters are missing because some kind of ash fell on the copy of The Navidson Record that Truant had and burned holes in a few pages talking about the Holloway Tapes. If you read House of Leaves it explains this; Truant just leaves blanks where the holes were rather than filling in the actual words Zampano wrote.
