Dead Man's Rope Lyrics

I realize this sounds quite irreverent, given the more serious tone of the song but it brings to mind the story of someone else who—reaching the end of her rope, said, that’s it! I’m going to kill myself. And despite the many and varied ways available to commit suicide, the only one she could think of was—gee, why not walk yourself to death? What a great idea! Needless to say, it isn’t an easy way to go, but she stomped off anyway, walking about ten blocks before her guardian angel showed up and said, don’t you have to pee? I’m sure you do. I wouldn’t crouch in the bushes if I was you. This is a residential neighborhood, sweetcakes. Angry, she stomped back, peed at home, forgot about killing herself and instead carped at her angel for the longest time.

But this song is perhaps about despair—the kind of despair that has any of us questioning the beliefs and principles we have called our own without really examining them for validity. And it seems as though the angel showed up and said something like, nothing can change this dark night but there’s still light with you. Let’s walk together and find some different perspectives.
