This is the sort of word play I really like in Marc Bolan's lyrics. He's obviously decided to write around the imagery conjured up by his imaginings about Atahuallpa, the great Inca king at the time of the Conquistadors' arrival from Spain, in South America.
I love it. It is so atmospheric. I always think of the end ("I come from a time...") as a different song, and not really connected with the first part.
