This is by far my favorite song from Death. I love the meaning and how I could relate to it!
A close person, probably the songwriter's lover made a promise to them (I think maybe an "I'll love you FOREVER" or something like that). The songwriter put all his trust in her, then she completely changed and left him without warning, out of nowhere. The winds of change blew her, and her promise away. The songwriter is having trouble coping with that, and has lost all trust in her, and everyone else around him as well. He questions what is real, if anything lasts forever, and why this happened to him. He's stuck in the past, in a world of memories, and can't believe what has happened, can't let go. Nothing at all seems real, and words are worthless and empty to him. And the broken promise is tearing at his spirit.
Well, that's my life story right there, haha! Except instead of an "I'll love you forever," it was more like "I'll love you for a few more months and then go bang my ACTUAL boyfriend..." xD
