I agree with 6th_sadistic_snipe, but I think this song is more complicated than that. Since Warrel Dane is clearly so against control of the docile masses, he seems to be saying that a belief in God is a survival mechanism that kicks in through "ancient DNA design". Even though he 'knows' that God cannot exist, he still feels drawn to religion when he is feeling pain and loss.
