A political protest song - John Lennon would have (should have) been proud. Honestly, I don't know much of the political/military history that inspired this song, but obviously Paul didn't feel England had any business in Ireland at the time.
A good song. I'm still amazed that Paul McCartney (not John Lennon) had 2 (3?) songs banned by the BBC. This one and HI HI HI.
