for me this song is in the perspective of a person that is talkin to God about wantin to live their life right and at peace with Him but keeps falling away from their relationship with God by not listening and trying to fake the Christian life. the person is expressing how much he hates the way he feels and how he wants to make God proud of him but almost feels he cant live up to it almost to the point of giving up
