As for the meaning, My guess is that its about a relationship which took a lot of work to make right. There being highs and lows, im guessing that the whole relationship was a rollercoaster ride, or in this case just a "Ride." It is however hard to let go in the case of this, for he wanted it to last forever, but unfortunately every rollercoaster ride has to end sooner or later. As he states that he wont let her leave, he is still trying to make things work while she is simply giving up.
