I personally think that the person dying does so at 4am and because of the close relationship, the singer can't forget that moment and will always feel like it's the moment when their friend died.
Lines like 'I wish the sun would never come' I think mean the singer knows that the friend is dying and wants it stay at 4am so the death doesn't happen.
I've had a few drinks and that made more sense in my head, but hey ho...
