I think that the "give my face to the back of your head" is basically wanting to give up and maybe perhaps become like everyone else? that's the feeling i get from when she also says "loyal in your shadow." i think this could be about the going to shows, wanting to be put on the guest list, perhaps. or just the music industry in general. perhaps trying to get signed, or something like that. it definitly seems like that. but she is talking to someone else, like someone who she is trying to make the scene with, telling them "that is not our fate", and that they weren't made for being famous and getting onto guest lists. or maybe she means that she doesn't want to try, and that it's unimportant. also because in this first line she says "all dressed down" like, they have just been out to se what is going on, not trying to get onto the guest lists now. so she just wants to give up and become like everybody else, no longer wants to try to be different with haircuts because all the best ones are taken.

then she is asking questions, like, because this is all elite and whatever, do lawyers have laywers? think this could be referring to what do the people that go to these things and get on guest lists, what do they conform to?

i'm not that sure on the verse. "one more cheap suit in the loop" could be referring to numerous outfits people buy to go to clubs in. "more chlorine" in the pool gives the effect of like, i don't know.. perhaps chemicals? could be relating to drugs, not sure about that though. "the blonde doll smiling behind us, says one day you'll be just like us" i love this bit, she says it in such a sarcastic voice. obviously referring to the amount of dolls and how everyone appears perfect in the music industry. the second verse " all dressed up to catch a glimpse of the list" they've dressed up, the opposite to the first line where they were 'dressed down'. they've seen some success, there getting there nearly to be 'on the list'.

the last lines are the best. "calling from the next hotel" maybe she is callingbecause she doesn't want to be seen begging, desperate to be on the list. even though she is "who we are now we will always be" perhaps trying to convince herself, although she carries on ringing around trying to get onto the list. "the best haircuts are taken" when she sings this it sounds like the person on the phone to her is saying it. like, rejecting her ? don't know. may be about guilt from feeling the need to want to fit in with these scenes, or i've probably gotten it completely wrong. good song nonetheless
