Kansas was pretty awesome, and despite their success still under-recognized. Their talent and brilliance were THE American response to the British prog scene, not as imitators, but innovators. Epics songs like Journey from Mariabronn, Song for America, Magnum Opus, Portrait, and etc set a standard for artistic music in the States that few have flirted with. I don't have a great opinion on list orders since different seasons have me cycle through each of those named. But, it would be hard to discount any one of them.
