i've never even actually heard this song and just stumbled on it and i adore the cure... it sounds really sad.... like that regretting that comes with having to just continue on with your life. the very beginning reminds me of reading a newspaper in some old house and just not feeling any motivation. and the fact that it's like he's refusing to deny the fact that yesterday generally means that the day is over. it's like the days have just slid into one. ACTUALLY, more the like "yesterday" was an amazing day, absolutely euphoric in every way imaginable! and then it's like "today" is the crash. like something happened between the two people to just cause this hopeless depth of misunderstanding without the energy to fix things; like you literally don't know what happened but whatever did cut too deep to try to repair everything. this song also makes me think of an older couple, vivacious and spontaneous in their youth, but as they grow older and older, they lose all that and the song is one of them looking back..... i've never even heard the song yet the lyrics make me think all of this by themself. i love it... he's an amazing lyricist and writer....
