To me, this song tells me that I can't change the whole world by myself, but I can do SOMETHING - no matter how "small". Maybe giving money to charity, helping a neighbour and so on. That's my little contribution to saving the world.
@EvaSan Disagree.. the very line 'I saved the world today' strongly suggests irony, something NOT really happening, NOT something you're being advised to do, or contribute towards, 'but in your own little way'. I also agree with those that think its a very personally focused song and lyrics, therefore more about depression than actually trying to save the world as a whole.
