i always thought it was about a guy who was a liar and a (very good) bullshitter - who is unable to commit - and who nearly ended up getting married (chew the ring).
but parts never made sense (like the heavy coat, the trigger cut - another suicide reference).
now i get it - he;s a bullshitter who was betrayed and nearly offed himself but is now determined to bounce back!
