When I was a teenager and most of my thoughts concentrated on when I finally leave home and start living on my own this song helped me through some bad times. I don't think about is as a suicide song. I don't think McCa would write a suicidal song ;) For me - it's about a girl who's so frustrated about living with her parents that she finally decides to leave. She leaves them a letter, takes some of her stuff and quietly sneaks out one morning. She buys some cheap car and off she goes. It's a generation-gap song, about a girl who is misunderstood by her parents. So beautiful, so true, so Paul, indeed. Forever one of my favourites.
