I thought there was only a live version of this...at least the version I have. You know, in the beginning of the live one, Staley says "Seeing how we're in Dallas, thought we'd sing a little country song". So I think he is kind of mocking homophobes or the stereotype of all country music being homophobic and/or racist, sexist, ect.
I agree. I think it's a goof song but I also think that's kinda snuck in there, hence the singer getting beaten up for being a "fag" and then plowing the antagonist's mother... haha
