I believe he is talking about love, and how he is always burdened with it like he is some criminal. Then he goes on saying how happy he is because he is freed from it, and now he can do things he wasn't able to.
Maybe after that he starts to say how love is something that wasn't etched in stone forever, his love is something that is already gone.

I think it has to do somewhat about his relationship he had when they weren't playing for a while and how he is coming back with his band now that everything fine.
