It doesn't have to be about the end of a relationship, just a person leaving, maybe halfway across the world. And their friend/lover/etc. wants to be remembered and thought of. S/he wants a part of themselves (and memories) to be in their suitcase, meals, dreams, words, bones, etc. S/he wants everything that this person does to be associated in one way or another with him/her - so that they'll always be thinking of him/her.
