Maybe it's about another form of abuse? Even if it was about rape...sometimes when a child gets raped or hurt by someone they like and trust, they will still love them deep inside, despite the terrible wounds.

@ProjectShadows It's about God. She disowned God at age of 10, for lack of understanding. At age 16, suicidal, on/off drugs, she goes to church, experiences God's hand on her.
