I, however, have no idea what it's about.
Of course it's about being ashamed of loving a certain someone.
He tells you in the first line.
But I think the whole "always knew what you were" means that the person is something not appealing to society but he doesn't care.
"You walk on water; you sing a lovely tune"
I think that either means he thinks that the person is SO great or that the person is a tempter.
The "creepy" voices singing that part make it seem more like something bad, so tempter is my guess.
