Well, I would say it has to do with a break up. The woman leaving him for someone else and him being left alone. She just simply replaced him for someone else and he has no one. He's saying did you take the love and happiness that you wanted before maybe things got rough and she baled on him for something "happier" but it's not really happy because it's just that beginning part of a relationship where everything is happy because you don't really know the other person.
