"Listen to your Heart" is about the person who has to make the choice about the relationship, whereas this song is about the person who has no control in that person's choice. It's kind of the other side of the story in my mind, but yeah, the exact same subject.
It's an amazing song, and I agree, spot on with how it feels to be in such a situation. The irony is that neither person really has a choice because the matter in question is love.
I get the feeling that the narrator of this song is trying to do what's best for the girl he loves, and if that means biting the tongue, so be it. But there is evidence he hopes she'll come around: "like a broken record stuck before a song", as well as lines that indicate self-abuse: "in a bottle I placed my hope" (a nice double-entendre).
All in all, a well-written, fresh new song that has me loving this band more than ever.
