I think this is song is about discovering your own identity in a society that can consume you and control your actions. Its directed as a message toward everyone, not just written about himself. I dont think this song is about addiction though.

All that you suffer is all that you are All that you smother is all that you are And you're saying you're seeing, you're saying who you are (Everything that makes up your identity growing up is not neccesarily the true you, the people around you, actions in the past, society all work together to create a fake identity for yourself.)

What takes meaning is cleaning the meaning of who you are (Try and search for the real you)

All of your struggles beneath your disguise Drink from the reasons that hold you alive 'Til we're safe from the wounds of desire and pain You must rise from the mounds of desire and change (You must rise above all of the influences and be true to yourself)

Too late to discover peace of mind Too late to recover me (This reffers to his doubt that it may be too late for both society, and himself)

The rest of the song just reinterates these concepts. Personal identity is a long hard process, and im goin to bed cus its 5 am.
