Nick Drakes songs are so mysterious so this is a shot in the dark. But is it possible that by blue he means heaven. This is the way this makes sense to me. Because blue for the most part is associated with sadness and depression. I dont think hes saying he wants to find sadness. I think he is trying to equate blue with heaven and paradise.
