This song is so beautiful. I agree with sudden dance, that it's about being true to yourself.. but it also reminds me of the predicament many young black high school guys find themselves in. They were encouraged to succeed in athletics, rather than academics. Rather than having their brains valued, their bodies are vaued instead... And so they become pushed into "hoop dreams", even if deep down they're wondering if they could be doing something different.. and then later on down the line they realize there's not that much potential in athletics as they'd hoped, and they become burnt out...
