this comfort of strangers album is so strong overall, with so much emotion in her voice that seemed to be missing on daybreaker. and i think this song is the pinnacle of that emotion, both in her voice and in the lyrics. the lines that end with 'everything we touch just turns to soul' are so, so very powerful. and the references to Neil Young's "heart of gold" and "love is a rose" (love is a rose but you better not pick it / it only grows when it's on the vine) are pretty nice too
